When the WPU admissions team first connected with Post Captain Consulting during the 2020–2021 academic cycle, the goal was technical: develop advanced funnel reports and a portal-based homepage dashboard. But when their internal Slate lead unexpectedly departed, the relationship quickly evolved, and putting people first became the foundation for everything that followed.

A Custom Solution Built on Trust

As the partnership progressed, a full audit revealed several misconfigurations and a major opportunity: rethinking the readmit process. At the time, students struggled to navigate the existing form, and staff spent excessive time managing a process with no true reader or application flow. Students were falling through the cracks and everyone felt it. Together, we reimagined the experience. Post Captain built a new Slate application, revamped communications, designed a full review process, and created clear reporting. The result? Readmit application completions increased by 83%, which was a win for both students and staff.

Success with the readmit process created trust, and opened the door for deeper conversations. WPU leadership wanted to explore direct admissions, and once again, Post Captain responded in a way that put their people first. Together, we worked hand-in-hand with their team to define clear criteria and build the infrastructure to make it happen: automations, communications, and reporting designed with both students and staff in mind. The new pilot removed barriers and made applying feel more accessible and personal. Since launch, applications have risen by 6.28%, and more students are seeing WPU as a place where they belong.
